Jubilation Rag is one of my extended rags, clocking in at 6 sections and 173 measures. I wrote it back in 2006, several years after my “Ragtime Guitar” book came out. It was originally called “Traditional Rag”, not because the structure of it was traditional (actually none of my rags have a traditional ragtime structure), but because one of the musical themes reminded me of one or two traditional American tunes. The fingerings are my own and involve some significant stretches, but the music offers the opportunity for other fingerings. Open string markings should generally be observed. Finally, where many of my rags are played with a “swing” feel, this one should be played in straight time.
